Mabamba Wetland bay

Located 36 km South west of Kampala is the best marshy area on the Northern shores of Lake Victoria. The bay is a Ramsar site and IBA which support s 75% of the global population of Blue swallow and other three globally threatened species:-Papyrus Gonleks, Pallid Harrier s & Papyrus yellow warblers.

Wetland System support s populations of plant and animal species important for maintaining the biological diversity of the region and regularly supports 20,000 or more water birds.

Mabamba swamp Species:-  Elegant shoebill, Blue swallows, lesser jacana, Afep pigeon, Blue breasted bee eater

Migrants: Gull billed tern Whiskered tern & White winged black tern.
